fire tv 2 unboxing

Check out our unboxing video of the new Amazon Fire TV 2. Same form factor. Bigger remote and better hardware specs.

Now with 4K Ultra HD

Amazon Fire TV now brings you 4K Ultra High Definition streaming capability, giving you a best-in-class television experience with true-to-life picture quality when used with compatible 4K Ultra HD TVs—something Apple TV, and Chromecast don’t support. Your 4K TV must support minimum HDCP requirements for protected content playback. Learn more

More streams in 1080p

Amazon Fire TV is built to support High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC). Over the coming months, Amazon Fire TV will deliver more 1080p high-definition streams from Amazon Video than ever before—even if you don’t own a 4K TV. HEVC is approximately 2x more efficient at encoding video than the current industry standard, which means less bandwidth is needed to deliver high-quality video streams. As a result, the majority of Fire TV customers will now experience more high-quality, 1080p streams from Amazon Video.

75% more processing power

From the responsive interface and instant search results, to smooth gaming and ultra-fast streaming, everything about Amazon Fire TV is fast and fluid. It’s thanks to an all-new quad-core processor with 75% more processing power than the previous generation Amazon Fire TV, better Wi-Fi support with dual-band 802.11ac, a dedicated graphics engine, 2 GB of memory, and expandable storage of up to 128 GB (microSD card sold separately).

Your voice just got more powerful

Just ask Alexa, a cloud-based voice service, to check sports scores or the weather, play music, and more—instantly. With the Amazon Fire TV Voice Remote, you can also use your voice to search TV shows, movies, actors, and genres. Voice search is supported for the entirety of Amazon’s video, music, app, and game catalog, plus for Hulu, HBO GO, Crackle, Showtime, and Starz.
